I’m a medium who talks to the dead – here’s how you can safely do it too

All Hallows Eve is fast approaching, and with it, the thinning of the veil between the worlds.

In the Northern Hemisphere, the plains stretch out, the nights are longer, Scorpio season is in full swing, and our collective consciousness turns to the passage of time, the cycles of life and death, and those we’ve lost.

Ready to help us get the hotline between the worlds is Rachel Stavis – a non-denominational exorcist, culminating Pisces, author of “Dark Sister: Chronicles of a Modern Exorcist” and writer/director of the short horror film ” Posies”, recently re-released, with a score by Chappel Roan.

“The veil is thinning between our world and the spirit world. While it could mean more things that go bump in the night, it could also mean communicating with dead loved ones you miss,” Stavis explained to The Post. “But it’s important to know which visitors from beyond have good intentions – and who intend to do harm.”

Stavis says the barrier between this world and the next world will be especially permeable between now and November. 15, peaking on Friday, October. 25. She says that as long as care is taken and high-frequency energy is conserved, it will be “a magical time for reunions involving our worlds, so if you’ve wanted to communicate with someone who’s passed on, don’t miss out !”

Can you talk to the dead?

Stavis, who routinely engages with spirits, says we are all born with some degree of mediumship ability, and these senses naturally grow when the veil between worlds is more stripped.

“You may find that you are more intuitive and noticing more smells, sights, sounds and
the shadows. These are visits”, she says. “Fear not! This is exactly what we need to experience to begin that communication.”

Believe what you get

As Stavis explains, our beliefs are often the biggest obstacle to communicating with the dead.

“Many people struggle to believe in their mediation skills. They often wonder if they are ‘special’
enough to receive communication from the Spirit. Because of this unworthiness, they shut down the ability
down dismissing it, thinking it must be their thoughts.”

Stavis shares that the main requirement to dialogue with the dead is trust.

“During this Tin Veil season, it is imperative that we believe and listen to everything that comes. After all, this is what we are looking for and the spirit hears us! So let it pass.”

Start with an important object

Stavis says to turn your finger on communication with the dead, start with someone else’s important item.

“Find a friend you can trust. Borrow an object from them that has some significance or history.
Take a notebook and sit with that object. Close your eyes and take a deep breath,” she instructs.

“Now, notice every thought, vision, or sensation that occurs. Write down everything you experience.”

Stavis shares that this exercise builds a connection between the material and the immaterial.

“Once you’ve done this on three separate occasions, you’ll probably notice that you’re getting more information than before. After the third time, return the object to its owner and discuss everything you perceived. Notice how right you are!”

Test your intuition with antiques

To improve your mediation skills and sharpen your intuition, Stavis recommends testing them in environments filled with old things and other people’s possessions.

“The next time you find yourself frugal or antique, close your eyes and use your intuition to guide you to something that feels ‘good’ and something that feels ‘bad.’ You will probably surprise yourself, as the item that feels good may look unattractive, while the item that feels bad may be beautiful!” she explains.

“It can be the same with visits, so it’s important to trust our intuition over our eyes.”

How to talk to the dead

Stavis claims that messages from beyond are more likely to be received in the dark. jozefklopacka – stock.adobe.com

Stavis shares that the best time for communion is after nightfall, as messages are best delivered in the dark.

For more protection, she suggests lighting a white candle, burning or diffusing incense, and taking deep, grounding breaths.

When you’re ready to begin, she instructs, say out loud, “(Person’s name), please come visit me tonight. I’m welcoming you in dreams, in sounds, in (any) ways you’re open to receiving
communication); thank you.â€

Stavis encourages those seeking contact to add any other information, such as how much the departed person loves and misses, and how the applicant hopes to visit with them.

Now, the message has been sent and the waiting begins.

“Over the next three days, pay attention!” Stavis gives “They will pass in whatever way is easiest for them, which may or may not be subtle, depending on who they are.”

Protect yourself

Stavis says if you get a bad vibe as you make your way to the commune, there are ways to shut it down.

“If something is bothering you, stop communicating quickly by burning or scattering copal to neutralize the energy, and then close the high-frequency energy with palo santo, frankincense, or rose. If you burn resins and herbs, move the ash with the disc throughout your space to clean it properly.”
