Girlfriend blasted moving across country for love – and snaps: ‘Shattered’

Her ex literally lives in Texas.

Jillian Lavin sacrificed her career, depleted her savings and moved halfway across the country to the Lone Star State for love — only to be rejected.

The singer, known online by her stage name Spritely, detailed the harrowing experience in an now-viral TikTok video that has racked up 2.3 million views, where she shares her heartache and pain through song.

Jillian Lavin traveled halfway across the country to be with her boyfriend, but he broke up with her just months later. Her fascinating story has taken the internet by storm.

Lavin said she thought the three-and-a-half-year relationship, which blossomed in California, was “amazing” — she told New York Magazine’s The Cut that the two were planning a future together.

That’s why she didn’t question spending thousands of dollars to fill her life when the time came.

But just two months after leaving Los Angeles for the unnamed girl, he broke up with her in a terse, handwritten note, blaming everything on them being “incompatible”.

“It was very disappointing that it was such a short f-king note,” said Lavin, who now lives in Florida.

“As soon as he took it out of his pocket, I understood. Who just hands you a note and says, ‘I think that says it all’? she continued.

She told the magazine that, earlier this year, her boyfriend had expressed a desire to return to Texas to live on his family’s ranch. It didn’t come as a shock — she knew Golden State wasn’t his long-term goal.

“He’s more of a Texas farm boy, and I’m a musician who wants to be in a big city,” she explained.

“Eventually, we compromised to be in a big city in Texas near his family’s farmland. This led to talks about what our future together would look like.”

She had the impression that he was going to propose, that he was the only one, and therefore she was blinded by the separation.

“People speculate: Was there another wife? Did his family talk to him about it? No, knowing him, there is no other impact,” she said.

“He said that by the time we moved to Texas together, he had fallen out of love with me, and I think it’s his fault that he kept those worries bottled up long enough for that to happen.”

The heartbreaking breakup, Lavin said, left her “devastated” — prompting her to take a two-month hiatus from social media. Eventually, she felt she needed to “tell people what happened.”

Sharing her story online opened the door for viewers to share their own bad breakups and condemn her ex’s actions. But she also told The Cut that self-appointed relationship experts on social media have called her “crazy” and blamed her for stalking her ex in another state.

“He made you move and then gave you a note?!?!” wrote one person on TikTok. “I thought my ex was bad for letting me go back to his mom. You win.”

“The true definition of ‘follow your dreams not your boyfriend,'” commented another.

“Boost for the algorithm so this goes viral and you can get all your money back from the move,” said one viewer.

“1. I’m so sorry but 2. Is this on Spotify,” someone else wrote, referring to the song’s distribution of her harrowing tale.

Two months after going their separate ways, she said she is “better”, although “every day is a battle”.

As for her ex, she hasn’t heard of him despite her newfound internet fame. Which, Lavin said, she would be happy to trade.

“I would probably take it all and just want to be with him,” she admitted of her viral fame.

“I see in hindsight that he’s not the best for me, but I was very happy with my little life with him. This is probably the biggest success I’ve seen in my career, but it’s just a career,” she said.
