My ‘practicing witch’ daughter ran away and planned a Halloween wedding – her mother’s reaction was too much

This mother of the bride is haunted by what happened.

A 53-year-old mother is under extreme pressure after her “wild child” daughter – “a practicing witch”, according to her father – ran away and is having a Halloween wedding instead of a more traditional ceremony.

The father of the bride recently chronicled the family drama on Reddit, writing that of his three children, none have “given me a headache like Lynn” — but the 55-year-old patriarch loves his youngest daughter for who she is.

It all started with Lynn getting a college degree at age 16, moving to Louisiana soon after and pursuing more education.

“She has always been our fiercely independent, argumentative, intelligent little girl. She is also more social,” he wrote. “[She’s] covered in tattoos, piercings and always has unkempt hair. I’m proud of her, I love her, but she’s always been our non-traditional child.”

He added that Lynn is not only a nurse, but also does her hair on the side.

When she moved to the bayou-filled state, she met her future husband, 27-year-old Brad.

“Brad is like Lynn, tattoos and piercings up the wazoo. Not traditional. He’s a good kid, I like him. He protected Lynn and has been there for her through so many things, I actually love that kid for protecting my daughter,” the father wrote.

Even Lynn’s mother at the time was enthusiastic about their engagement – at first.

“Lynn and Brad were both adamant that they didn’t want a wedding and just a little party with family and a few friends as a celebratory thing,” the father added.

“My wife was very upset and pushed Lynn until she reluctantly agreed to plan a wedding.”

However, “not even a week later”, Lynn and her mother bowed their heads over the flowers and the new bride retreated to her new home in Louisiana – where she and her fiance made a drastic decision.

“Lynn announced that they had eloped and were planning a little intimate date in New Orleans around Halloween time,” the dad wrote. “My wife lost it, she and Lynn got into a huge argument over the phone that left them both speechless.”

Now, Lynn’s mother tears up whenever the situation is discussed.

“After a few weeks of this nonsense, I finally snapped and said, ‘Why are you surprised? Lynn didn’t want a wedding in the first place! She’s our least traditional kid!’” the post continued, noting that the father told his wife to stop crying about it and look forward to their other children’s upcoming weddings.

“My wife called me names and avoided me… She also felt wrong for trying to force her [a big traditional wedding] in Lynn.”

Some commenters took the father’s side and said it was her mother for how the wedding went south so quickly.

“[Lynn] he didn’t want the wedding. And when she agreed to a small wedding, your wife tried to bulldoze her,” one person wrote.

“Lynn made it clear she wanted a little party and it’s not fair for your wife to push her into something she didn’t want. If this continues, it could really damage their relationship,” added another.

Meanwhile, a third wrote a hard-to-swallow truth.

“Does your wife realize that maybe she was the reason your daughter ran away? If she had just let Lynn have whatever kind of wedding she wanted, I’m sure you would have been invited from the small guest list.
